I Just Haven’t Met You Yet

As I sit here ready to write down my thoughts, I hear Michael Bublé singing in the background. I suddenly become aware that I have the dreaded holiday blues.

I had heard that song countless times; but I had never listened closely to it. Such a simple message. It’s more like a wish followed by a promise.

He sings that he knows that she will just walk into his life at some point. He knows that she will make him work to make it work. He promises to give more that he gets…when she makes an appearance…because he “just hasn’t met her yet”.

I’m think this is true for everyone. We go on with our lives and then one day you click with someone. Unexpectedly.

It may feel like serendipity. But…is it really? Ok, yes…I’m experiencing a little bit of the Christmas blues.

This is the time of year that one wishes to have a significant other in one’s life. Someone to cuddle with on cold nights; wake up with and maybe cook French toast; sip hot chocolate naked in front of the crackling fireplace. My imagination knows no end!

Definitely someone I want to kiss when midnight brings in the new year.

I know that he will come… like the song reminds me with certainty… “I just haven’t met you yet”.

Wishing all my fellow writers and readers a very joyous holidays, a merry Christmas, a happy Hanukkah, and a wonderful New Year!
