I Changed My Mind.

Are you able to do that?

I believe it was George Bernard Shaw that said “Those who can’t change their minds can’t change anything”.

Such a true statement. The reality is that true power lies on having the capability to open your mind to new ideas and in being able to see things through new eyes or from different perspectives. As a matter of fact, real progress depends on it.

Sometimes highly decisive people have the tendency to be very hard headed. I guess it comes with the territory. I happen to know this personally; but I also know I’m not alone!; and I have found that people with similar traits usually go through similar struggles.

I find it interesting that even though we’re immediately aware of it, meaning that we immediately recognize if we may be wrong or if we’re bested in an idea; we will most likely still go through the “I need to be convinced” process.

So it follows that we will discuss and resist because it just doesn’t come easily to us. I’ve been told that it’s because I’m a Capricorn…I’m not sure I completely believe that…but damn…it sometimes feels that it could be! Haha!

Being aware of it helps because then one can purposely be open to suggestion, listen, and consider a different opinion if the occasion arises.

Ultimately, we will accept a different opinion as being better than ours (if it is😉) and change our mind. Giving ourselves permission to say “You know what?, I’ve change my mind”.

It is then and there that true power lays; in the resiliency and the flexibility. It is in the humbleness of accepting when you are wrong, and on being able to recognize when there is a better solution, a better way.
