Call Me…Please!

This texting thing has really gotten out of hand. What began as a harmless tool for a quick message, seems to have replaced actual conversation. It is really a sad sad state of affairs. And I’m not talking about teenagers or even millennials per say. I’m talking pre-millennial men and women too.

For example, I think it’s disturbing that pre-millennial men can possibly think that they can woo a woman via text. 🙄Yes, they actually think they can romance a woman through a text!

Well, I got news for them… women are “auditory”. What I mean is that women respond to what they actually hear while men are more “visual” than women so I guess maybe the imagination and photos can help them there.😳 But yes…women go along with it…until they don’t.

I begin to think that choosing that way of communicating with a woman must stem from a combination of laziness, immaturity, insecurity, and confused practicality… and there is no room for “practicality” when it comes to romance.😉

I’m not saying there shouldn’t be any messages sent…because they can also be fun if you are creative. And they are good when a call can’t be made. I’m saying that it should be followed by an actual phone call.☎️

I miss those days when the landlines would ring! I even miss that double line I had so that I could toggle back and forth between conversations by lightly pressing on the telephone hook. It also meant that you had to give it your undivided attention because the cord was only six feet, you couldn’t walk around or be shopping at the same time.

Personally, I dislike when I call someone and I get a text back instead of a phonecall. All that tells me is that he or she, doesn’t feel like dedicating any quality time to me. Afterall… we all know that a text takes less than 5 seconds to write and send…which means minimum effort.

I’m also thinking that text messages may and are easily misunderstood. Texting lends itself to a lot of misinterpretation. Mainly because you can’t hear the nuances in the voice. What is meant as a joke may come off as an insult; what was said flirtatiously may be received as inappropriate, etc. That’s why they had to invent the emojis…and now we have thousands! 😐🤪😖😡😱🤯🫡🥱…honestly…there are some that I haven’t got a clue what they mean!…I knew a guy once that used this one in every text 🥴…what does that mean? Was he drunk all the time? 🤣

I, for one, pick up the phone and dial my friends, my sons, and or my significant others. Nothing compares to being told, “I miss you”… “I love you”…rather than 😘 or even ❤️…and hearing an actual laugh instead of reading that stupid LOL. 😂
